Therapy can be offered on a 1:1 basis with adults or young people. This could be for a wide range of issues such as anxiety, bereavement, self-esteem, trauma, sleep difficulties and family breakdown. Individual Therapy sessions are for 50 minutes per session and would normally be weekly. The location of sessions can be discussed, for example within school or in the home, or a neutral clinic space may be available. Confidentiality is a vital part of therapy and counselling, and the aim is to create a safe and trusted therapeutic space for you to use in ways which feel most helpful.
Using a systemic approach, which means exploring the wider system around the individual, rather than just the individual him/herself, therapy can be aimed towards aiding with relationships, looking at patterns and dynamics, and helping various difficulties which are impacting on a number of family members. Sessions may involve different members of a family, would last 1 hour and 20 minutes, and would normally be less frequent than individual therapy, for example on a fortnightly or monthly basis.
Therapeutic groups can be offered to groups of young people, around areas such as anxiety, anger, self-esteem and transitions. Groups may be about facilitating conversations between young people around certain topics, or exploring difficult experiences or emotions as a group. A minimum of three young people would be needed to run a group, and groups would normally be 1 hour 20 minutes per week, for 6 weeks, although the needs and aims of groups can be discussed. Groups of children can be referred by schools or identified by individuals/parents if it is felt a group may be beneficial.
I have experience of supervising clinicians working alongside young people and families and have up-to-date safeguarding training. I can offer regular 90 minute supervisions for Therapists/Counsellors working alongside adults and young people. Please get in touch via the Contact page to discuss supervisions.
As well as being able to offer groups for young people in schools, I am able to provide consultations to professionals who would benefit from discussing the emotional well-being and mental health of young people, gaining advice, and attending meetings if felt helpful. Please contact me via the Contact page to discuss this further.
